"Virginia Is For Lovers"

It is no secret that we consider Virginia one of our home bases. The unfortunate side effect of being here so often is that our Virginia adventures go unblogged. They usually appear on our private Facebook pages and occasionally on our Rootless Ramblers Facebook page.
WHEN: Random 2024 adventures
WHERE: Virginia
WHY: Because "Virginia is for Lovers" and we can't seem to leave her behind for to long.
SHELTER: Campgrounds, family homes, resorts, and AirBnBs.
PERKS: The kids and our friends are here. Bonus perk: Virginia has lots of adventures.
Cons: It makes us feel a bit rooted, it can be very hot and it can be very cold.

Williamsburg area with the kids!
We wandered all the beaches and found all the history in the Williamsburg area.

Met up with a friend for a history walk.
We explored Jamestown Island, Freedom Park, York River State Park, and Jamestown Beach.
Don't forget Colonial Williamsburg's nightlife. There are more ghosts than people wandering about these cobblestone streets. Speaking of streets, mind the speed limit...they are very serious about their rules.
Don't forget Mel's hometown of Richmond!
Mel's parents came for a visit, so we went on the Riverfront Canal Tour with her favorite guide, Steven. If you have time for one thing in Richmond, please consider this tour.

Neither of us is a veteran, but we had an opportunity to give back! Bob volunteered for the Old Dominion Honor Flight, and I took a dear friend and the wife of a veteran to the beach.
We also volunteer our time and our passion for vintage cars at local nursing homes. We really enjoy bringing the cars for show and tell and parades.
When we aren't wandering around, we are going to see Mel's youngest daughter perform with her rock band, Stiletto!
From here on out, you may see a new family member in our photos. Now you know why we spend so much time in Virginia and have failed to update our blog.

One visit to Colonial Williamsburg wasn't enough; we had to come back with our new grandbaby! We enjoyed the crafts, lights, and the piano shed.

The annual Bethlehem Walk in Goochland is another family favorite.

Then we wrapped up our 2024 at the Blue Ridge Tunnel! The baby loved it.
I’d love to promise more blog updates, but my schedule is controlled by a pint-sized warrior princess. I can only vow to do my best amidst the royal chaos!
Stay posted on our Facebook page. Hugs, Mel & Bob
